Siemens License Server Installation and Setup for Windows
Download the Siemens License Server
Follow the below step-by-step instructions to install and configure the Siemens License Server:
Select Siemens License Server under Product Centers. Go to the next step if it is not listed.
In the Support Center drop down menu, choose
Siemens License Server. Type Siemens License Server in the search box.
Click Search.
Click the house shape with the words Siemens License Server at the top of the window.
Select the Latest Release box on the right.
Select the License Server latest release for your OS system. For example, select the associated install if you have Windows 64-bit machine install, as shown below. This will immediately begin the compressed folder download (this example uses Windows 64 download).
Install License Server:
- In your downloads you should have the installer:
- Begin by opening/clicking on the downloaded application.
- Choose your language. Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Siemens License Server may detect licenses on your computer. Select Rename files(s) if this message appears. Else, continue to the next step.
- Import a license file by browsing. Note, if you do not select a license file and then click Skip, you can specify a license file after you install the license server or when you run the installer again. If you do not specify a valid license file, the installer does not start the license manager service.
- The Port Changes window opens and notifies you that your licenses are served from port 29000 and that your vendor daemon uses port 29001. To edit these ports before installing the license server, select the Advanced Settings check box and type the changes. Make sure the ports are not in use and do not match. Also, make sure to update the SALT_LICENSE_SERVER environment variable with the new ports. Click Next.
- In the Installation Location window, type the path or browse to the location where you want to install the license server. The field shows the default location. Click Next.
- In the Enter Webkey window, type your Siemens account (Webkey) or Support Center login, which is in email address format. Or, if you do not yet have a Siemens account, type the email that you will provide when you sign up for an account. The email you enter in this window is encrypted and stored locally on the server and is not sent to Siemens or used for any other purpose. Providing a Webkey installs the Siemens License Install Manager (SLIM), enabling you to manage your license servers remotely from a Windows machine on your network. If you do not want to install SLIM, select the "I don't want this feature" check box. Click Next.
- In the Confirmation Installation page, verify you want to keep the selected check box at the bottom to allow other users to access the computer you are installing the server on. The note reads “Required to serve licenses to clients on your network from this host.”
- Clicking Next will begin the installation process.
- Click Licensing if you want to import an additional license file. Click Done to quit the installer.
