How do I restart the license server to reread an updated license file?

This article provides step-by-step instructions for rereading a new or updated license file using lmutil (Linux) or lmtools (Windows).

Instructions

All normal license server functions can be managed using lmutil (Linux) or lmtools (Windows) once your license server has been installed and running. You will receive a new license file when your current license file expires. Please follow these steps in order to update and reread your new license file:
  1. Save a copy of your old license file (i.e., License_cdlmd_old.txt).
  2. Review any optional edits made to your older license file (Understanding your Siemens license file). These edits commonly involve the license server port, vendor daemon port, etc.
  3. Identify the location of the old license file.
  4. Replace the old license file with the new license file.
  5. Run the reread command:
    1. lmutil (Linux) by the command line
      Navigate to the license server location.
      Type the following command in the command line.
      > lmutil lmreread -c 1999@localhost
      lmutil - Copyright (c) 1989-2009 Acresso Software Inc. All Rights Reserved.
      [Detecting lmgrd processes...]
      lmreread successful
    2. lmtools (Windows)
      Open lmtools.
      Select "Start/Stop/Reread" tab.
      Click "Reread License File".
