HEEDS Licensing and Installation Guide

HEEDS is a powerful design space exploration and optimization software that interfaces with CAD and CAE tools to drive product innovation. This article will guide you through the process of setting up the software, divided into two parts.

Part 1: Licensing

  1. There are two types of license files: RCTECH (more common) and Salt.
  2. If you have been provided with an RCTECH license (License_Rctech.txt), proceed to Step 3. If you have a Salt license, please contact our technical support team at support@sdasoftware.com for assistance.
  3. If you have not installed the Siemens License Server previously, follow the steps in Siemens License Server Installation and Setup. If you already have a running Siemens License Server, follow the steps in Adding/Replacing a License File for the Siemens License Server instead.

Part 2: Software Installation

  1. Run the HEEDS Interactive Installer.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Choose the installation location.
  4. Select Product and Documentation.
  5. ​​Choose your preferred language.
  6. Read the description of the HEEDS Evaluation Service in the installer. Install it only if applicable.
  7. Select the legacy RCTECH license server and enter the server name using the format: port_number@ip_address_license_server (default port number = 29000).
  8. Choose your shortcut preferences.
  9. Review the pre-installation summary and begin the installation.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Complete the installation by clicking Done.
