STAR-CCM+ FMU Co-Simulation with Simcenter Amesim

STAR-CCM+ FMU Co-Simulation with Simcenter Amesim fmi2Fatal

A customer attempted the tutorial, "FMU Co-Simulation with Simcenter Amesim: Check Valve" from the STAR-CCM+ User Guide and received this error messaged: Function fmi2ExitInitializationMode returned status 'fmi2Fatal'. Note, this was performed using Windows.

When performing co-simulations and experience errors like this it is important to enable High Verbosity FMI logging. You may activate this setting in the stated tutorial here: External Links > Link 1 > Conditions > FMI Logging. After setting the verbosity to high and initializing the solution, the high verbosity output indicated the Amesim library failed to load followed by the same error.

This issue was resolved by setting the following Environment Variables (windows):
  1. Create and set AME environment variable to the Amesim installation directory (AME = {Amesim Directory}).
  2. Edit the Path environment variable to include the following:
